Infill is the gritty, sand-like material which is brushed into artificial turf. Infill can be made from a number of different materials including silica, volcanic debris, rubber, and more! Sometimes infills might even contain a special coating to resist compaction or prevent the growth of microbes.
100%! Infill keeps your turf standing tall, creating a natural appearance that accurately captures the look of natural grass. Without infill, artificial turf will flatten and become matted .
Select infills can also keep your lawn noticeably cooler in the summer heat and even prevent it from smelling. There are even infills with antimicrobial technology that prevent the growth of bacteria and mildew.
Zeofill’s negatively charged molecular structure prevents the ammonium in pet urine from forming into a foul odor. It’s made from natural ingredients, and features antimicrobial properties that prevent the growth of harmful molds and bacteria. And ZeoFill is designed to keep your lawn up to 19 degrees cooler than other common infills!
Wonderfill uses a special coating to prevent the growth of harmful microbes. Better yet, its innovative shape is less abrasive than most other infills.
Envirofill uses silicone to keep artificial turf cool and comfortable on scorching hot days. Its physical composition also includes a highly-rounded quartz core to prevent compaction. And Envirofill is also infused with Microban® antimicrobial protection and backed by a 16 year warranty!
Camofill is made with a proprietary blend of natural colors to give your lawn a lush, forested look. Camofill uses Zinc Omadine™ to prevent the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew.
Silica sand gives low traffic yards a pristine look. It provides support for artificial turf blades to keep them standing straight, but lacks the powerful antimicrobial technology featured in our other infills.
You can easily fluff up your turf lawn using infill and a stiff broom!
Adding the correct amount of infill critically impacts the look, feel, and performance of your turf. That’s why it’s always a good idea to double check the manufacturer’s instructions on how much product to use!
Use a drop spreader to evenly disperse the proper amount of infill. Once the infill is in place, use a power or other stiff bristles broom to brush infill into the turf. This will give your lawn the appearance of freshly mowed grass, opposed to a flat green carpet.
Lastly, you’ll want to rinse the grass to get rid of any leftover dust.
This can vary from one lawn to another. We recommend every eighteen months.
